After you sort through all that stuff, what do you do with it? Box it up, of course. We once lived across from a sweet little lady who was always saying “that is such a nice box”. I would smile to myself and think that it was only a box. I did not realize the full potential of a box. Now I see things differently.
As you sort through your things, it is easier to toss the stuff into a garage sale box, a box for trash, and of course boxes for the give away pile. This is a good time to use up those boxes that you have been saving for a rainy (or not so rainy) day.
As you put things into the charity box, just note the items on a notebook page so you will have a record for your taxes. I lay the items out on a couch or bed and take a picture for my records also. Then box the stuff up, put it in the car and take it away. Now someone will get benefit of your excess and you will have a nice, clean space.
I feel less guilty when I can share what I do not need with others who have the need.
Step back and give yourself a pat on the back and enjoy your new clean space.
